The Lead Carpenter serves as a lead worker and provides direction to crew members of all trades.
The Lead Carpenter helps develop plans for renovation projects, requisitions and schedules material and supplies as needed, coordinates work flow, provides OJT, maintains time and materials records, performs rough-in to finish carpentry in support of construction and maintenance, and communicates effectively to establish productive working relationships and conflict management
SECTION II:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required.
+ Minimum of five (5) years experience in carpentry related to facilities maintenance or construction projects required.
+ Extensive experience in all aspects of the carpentry trade plus a
+ Expertise in use of hand and power tools.
+ Competence in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
+ Extensive knowledge of building codes and specifications.
+ Ability to plan complex remodeling projects.
+ Ability in supervising trades persons from other crafts including, but not limited to: carpentry, electrical systems, masonry, concrete and drywall finishing, plumbing, interior finishes, kitchens and baths, flooring, tiling, insulation, fireproofing, glazing, and quality control.
+ Strong familiarity with OSHA regulations, and expertise in job-site safety regulations and business management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Considerable walking, climbing, stooping and lifting of moderate to heavy objects weighing 50 -100 pounds. Working inside and outside the facility, the incumbent will be exposed to extremes of temperature and weather conditions, high noise levels, dusty/dirty environments and patient care areas with patients having various illnesses. Standard safety and protective equipment will be supplied by the hospital.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
+ Leading and coordinating subordinates effectively for maximum productivity.
+ Fast and efficient work, great craftsmanship with excellent communication and problem solving skills.
+ Facilitate amicable relationship with Hospital Engineering Departments through cooperation and collaboration.
+ Construction of partitions using metal studs, drywall, doors, hardware, layout, framing.
+ Inspect and replace ceilings or floor tile, floor covering, wall coverings, or woodwork as needed.
+ Install floors, ceilings, and wall finishes.
+ Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of partitions and repair or replace, using appropriate materials and tools.
+ Fits and installs doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using appropriate tools and methods.
+ Perform finish taping/sanding, trim and other finishing work.
+ Facilitate and participate in the demo of spaces as need for remodeling projects.
+ Participate in the Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) process.
+ Erect Infection Control containment barriers as required by Infection Prevention Department.
+ Builds or repairs cabinets, countertops, doors, frameworks, or other fixtures, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
+ Maintains building smoke and fire barriers using appropriate methods and materials.
+ Mounts and fastens materials using appropriate anchors and fasteners to insure secure installation.
+ Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels.
+ Reads, studies, and follows specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
+ Clean, maintain, and store tools and equipment properly
+ Maintain clean worksite free from debris reducing combustible load within building.
+ Monitoring inventory and replenishing supplies, as needed.
+ Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and through reporting violations of policies, procedures, and guidelines to immediate supervisor
+ May include other assigned tasks
