Mid- to Senior-Level Mussel/Aquatic Biologist:
TRC Companies, Inc., a pioneer in groundbreaking scientific and engineering developments since the 1960s, is a national engineering consulting and construction management firm that provides multi-disciplinary services to the energy, environmental and infrastructure markets. TRC serves a broad range of clients in government and industry, implementing complex projects from initial concept through permitting, construction, and operation.
TRC is soliciting applications from highly motivated, qualified individuals to fill a permanent, full-time Senior Aquatic Ecologist / Project Manager position with an emphasis in ecological consulting, malacology, fish survey, and environmental documentation in either our Gahanna, Ohio office or our Charleston, West Virginia office. The role will include the development of existing and new staff to grow the existing program. Qualified candidates must be highly motivated, mid-level to senior level Biologist with 10-15 years of experience. The successful applicant may be involved in a wide variety of projects including transportation projects, oil and gas development, electric generation and transmission, natural gas pipeline, hydroelectric, wind generation, and solar power.
Applicants should be an Approved Surveyor/Certified Mussel Surveyor in Ohio and West Virginia for Group 1, 2, 3, and 4 streams. Mussel survey permits held for other states is a plus. The candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision and have familiarity with topographic maps, aerial photography, Trimble GPS units, boat operation, and SCUBA certification. Applicants must also have experience permitting projects at the federal, state, and local levels and be able to effectively coordinate field work, interact in the field with clients and other contractors, and adhere to project budgets and schedules.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The candidate must possess technical writing skills to produce documentation as required. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated experience with freshwater mussel surveys and/or Rare, Threatened and Endangered species surveys. Candidates must have a working knowledge of standard office productivity software.
Applicants must be able to effectively coordinate with team members, participate in field and reporting efforts; and interact well with clients and other contractors. The position will require travel and the ability to conduct site visits working as part of a field team.
