Primary Objective: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Manages and maintains automatic yarn equipment which winds/places yarn onto tubes. Applies knowledge of the Extrusion Line and Material Handler III to produce first-quality yarn packages in accordance with Mohawk procedures and plant SOP's.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

  • Thread yarn positions
  • Doff to maintain yarn ends and tails away from winder components
  • Remove yarn wraps from rollers
  • Position yarn ends dropped from spin packs/chimney manually
  • Manually remove cones and tubes for continuous machine processing
  • Rotate between packing out yarn and threading positions as an extrusion operator
  • Operate the control panel on the assigned machine for smooth operation
  • Catch ends from Spin Operators and place them in the aspirator
  • Use handheld aspirator for safe stringing up
  • Monitor line for correct thread path and string up
  • Label yarn packages with correct lot number and position, as needed
  • Inspect case builds at every layer for quality standards, as needed
  • Pack out yarn packages on assigned buggy and follow SOP
  • Accurately perform quality checks of material during production and packing out
  • Manually load and label cones in magazines to ensure a continuous doff process
  • Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
  • Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Lift Truck Certification preferred
  • Successful completion of all required on the job training
  • Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
  • Reads and writes in standard English and proficient performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction
  • May be required to use PC and other department specific database system
  • Prior experience in operating extrusion machine equipment required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be able to pass a color-vision screening
