Description:
This position involves extensive travel (65-85%) to oversee construction for remodels and new stores. When not traveling, the job will operate from a home-based remote office during the planning phase which is normally during store peak periods.
The Construction Manager position manages the daily activities for new and remodeled store construction projects.
- Oversees the construction and fixture set of new and remodeled stores to Shoe Carnival standards.
- Assists in the evaluation of potential and existing sites and structures for development/construction potential.
- Reviews plans for new-build and renovation projects, evaluates bids, and assists with the hiring of contractors.
- Conducts regular construction progress site visits, ensuring that projects are completed as designed, in compliance with accepted plans and specifications, and on time and within approved budgets.
- Completes site reviews and surveys for prospective projects.
- Reviews construction documents and floor plans with appropriate departments to verify accuracy and compliance with Shoe Carnival standards.
- Collaborates with the design team and assists in the layout and planning of each new project.
- Assists with new store set up and remodels which may include manual tasks such as assembling fixtures, millwork, and installing interior signage.
- Performs light construction duties on occasion.
- Manages travel expenses and submits expense reports timely.
Requirements:
- 5 years of Construction Management experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in one of the applied fields of Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management or Architecture preferred but not required.
- Experience in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook required; AutoCAD or Workfront project management software experience a plus.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving, and project scheduling abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and build collaborative relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and analyze construction drawings.
- Flexible, detail-oriented with a positive attitude.
- Ability to travel and work necessary hours to complete projects/tasks.
- Ability to successfully complete an annual motor vehicle record check and acknowledge Shoe Carnival's Driver Safety policy.
