Duties and Responsibilities
- Advanced Welding Operations :
- Perform advanced MIG welding on a variety of metals and materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions with high precision and quality.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, adjusting settings for optimal performance.
- Preparation and Setup :
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to determine precise specifications.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and accurately positioning components.
- Select appropriate electrodes, gas mixtures, and wire feed rates for specific projects.
- Quality Control and Inspection :
- Inspect welds for defects and ensure compliance with stringent quality standards.
- Perform necessary repairs or rework on defective welds to meet quality specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of welding activities, inspections, and quality reports.
- Equipment Maintenance and Safety :
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of welding equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safe storage of materials and tools.
- Mentoring and Training :
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior welders, assisting them in developing their skills.
- Conduct training sessions on advanced welding techniques and safety practices.
- Assist in evaluating the performance of junior welders and providing constructive feedback.
- Flexibility and Mobility :
- Flex between the north and south buildings as required to meet the demands of the business.
- Adapt to changing work environments and assignments with a positive and cooperative attitude.
- Collaboration and Communication :
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to achieve production goals.
- Communicate effectively regarding project status, challenges, and requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding processes and efficiency.
- Advanced understanding of MIG welding principles, techniques, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in hot conditions and high temperatures.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a welding certification program or vocational training in welding is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in MIG welding or a related field.
- Proven track record of high-quality welding work.
