Job Summary: Required:
* High school diploma or GED
* 1 year of experience in the operation of power and construction equipment used in electric, street, water, sewer, and/or concrete work
* Possess and maintain a valid driver's license at time of appointment and obtain a Commercial Driver's License, Class B, with airbrake and tanker endorsements within 6 months of hire date
* Possess and maintain an Oregon Flagger certification and forklift certification
* Job offers for this position are contingent on the individual passing a pre-employment drug screen and fit-for-duty exam
Preferred:
* Commercial Driver's License with Class A Tanker's endorsement
Summary:
This position works under general supervision and performs skilled work in operating light to medium equipment, involving considerable manipulative skills. An employee of this class is subject to call for duty at all times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to, but not limited to, extreme outside weather conditions, vibration, fumes, or airborne particles and occasionally toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. An employee in this position must withstand exposure to variable weather conditions and continuous hours of duty. This is a non-supervisory position.
Duties Include:
* Operates vehicles and pieces of equipment including man basket truck (aerial platform), street sweeper, single axle truck, dump body/flatbed with sanders and plows, forklift with man basket, grade tractor (front), front end loader IT (integrated tool carrier) with all attachments except blower, mobile concrete mixer trailer, asphalt recycler, bumper mounted crack seal pot, asphalt tack pot trailer, signs and barricade trailer, and air compressors, jack hammer, and sand blaster pot.
* Performs minor preventative maintenance and makes minor repairs to equipment and necessary adjustments to controls.
* When necessary, assists an Operator II in repainting or maintaining traffic markings, including thermos plastic applications.
* Generally, operates light to medium equipment used in right-of-way maintenance and repair, including, but not limited to, manually operated gas powered, pneumatic power and electronic power hand tools and equipment required for maintaining a street right of way.
* Assist working crews when not actively engaged in vehicle preparation.
* This employee will be required to work weekends and nights during winter operations, November-April.
