Job Summary:

A CNC Operator 1 is responsible for the fabrication of quality parts using blueprints, sketches and verbal instruction to run parts that meet customers’ expectations using Lathes, Mills and conventional equipment. The individual in this role will have the ability to measure their work to ensure it is within set tolerances. A CNC operator should have good mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of basic machining practices and give concentrated attention to each job, so as not to cause tool damage and / or mistakes to jobs. You Will:

  • Run machine and meet daily production targets
  • Regularly required to take detailed measurements with Micrometers, Calipers, Indicators, Height Gauges, Thread Gauges, Pin Gauges, CMM, Smart Scope, and Comparator.
  • Communicate with Lead or area Manager about any issues or problems in production immediately
  • Process parts or components on jobs in que at a minimum of 100% of your available time
  • Ensure that all required data entry is occurring for each job and that all required information is being accurately entered
  • Adhere to check good/pass, good/inspection criteria and in-process inspection for all jobs
  • Strict adherence to trained processes / work instruction and ownership of communicating any inconsistency, questions or issues
  • Deburring parts
  • Properly care for equipment. Daily clean off the machines used, brushing them off and wiping them down
  • Keep a neat and clean work area. Daily sweep up surrounding work area (mop as necessary)
  • Abide by all safety procedures. Always wear safety glasses, use guards and other PPE when needed
  • Accurately read and interpret all prints, sketches recognizing symbols and tolerances. Can create prints and sketches for others in the shop to work from. Requires moderate math skills.
  • Periodically be able to instruct or train others about shop operations, equipment and procedures

  • High School Diploma/GED or vocational equivalent.
  • Good, punctual attendance (at your machine working by start time)
  • Ability to maintain good customer / coworker relations. Treat others with respect, interfacing with them in a courteous manner
  • Communicate effectively, so no details of a job are missed
  • Be willing to work overtime in order to meet customer needs
  • Be sensitive to changing priority needs and switch jobs to meet customer needs

Environment & Physical Demands:

  • May involve the use of oils and solvents.
  • Subject to some soilage from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)
  • Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.
  • Safety Glasses are required
  • May require area specific safety training
  • This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate-loud.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.
  • May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
  • Prolonged standing. Use of hands and arms to operate machinery including fine manipulation of parts.
  • Some Computer use is required
