Under the general supervision of the Water Technology Foreman, performs journey-level skilled duties in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of the City's water system infrastructure.**Supervision Received**Reports to the Water Technology Foreman**Supervision Exercised**May provide supervision and guidance to Water System Operators I, II, III, and seasonal staff.**Essential Functions**Supervision & Administration Serves as project lead and directs the responsible charge operator. Assigns and delegates daily tasks; ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Coordinates project materials, equipment needs, and interdepartmental efforts. Maintains project documentation, system maps, and progress reports. Assists in policy development to meet EPA and OSHA standards; provides field training and supports crew evaluations. Participates in budget planning by reviewing past expenditures and recommending resource needs.*Water Systems* Operates heavy equipment and performs installation, repair, and maintenance of water lines, meters, hydrants, and valves. Conducts water quality sampling. Coordinates water main shutdowns, manages pump stations, and performs SCADA and PLC-related monitoring and maintenance. Ensures proper operation and chlorination of the water pump house.*Pressurized Irrigation* Monitors and maintains pressurized irrigation systems, including canals, ditches, valves, and pipelines. Oversees seasonal system pressurization and drainage. Ensures timely irrigation water delivery; maintains delivery records and enforces contract conditions.*Roads* Responds to emergencies; assists in determining personnel and material needs. Operates heavy and light construction equipment for street maintenance, snow removal, storm drain cleaning, and sign installation.*Sewer* Maintains general knowledge of sewer system operations to assist as needed.*General Functions* Performs preventative and emergency maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Enforces safety standards; serves as a traffic control flagger when necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.**Qualifications**Must possess a Water Distribution Certification Grade IV.Must Possess a Wastewater Collection Certification Grade III.Must Possess a Cross Connection Control Administrative Certification.Must possess a valid Utah State Class A CDL.Must be willing to work shift schedules, on-call and 24-hour standby. Must possess Flagger Traffic Control Certification.
