Tooling Design Engineer
Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract opportunity located in Redmond, WA.
Job Responsibilities:
Design custom tools and fixtures for satellite manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test operations.
Utilize Siemens NX (CAD) to create 3D models and 2D drawings of tooling components and assemblies.
Conduct structural and functional analysis of tool designs using FEA software (ANSYS or similar) to ensure performance and safety.
Manage tool design documentation and lifecycle using Teamcenter PLM.
Work directly with manufacturing engineers, technicians, and external customers to understand requirements and deliver tailored tooling solutions.
Ensure all designs meet customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., NASA, DoD).
Support the fabrication, testing, and implementation of tools on the production floor.
Provide technical support and guidance during tool installation and usage.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in mechanical/tooling design, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
Proficient in Siemens NX for 3D modeling and drafting.
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS or equivalent.
Working knowledge of Teamcenter or similar PLM systems.
Strong understanding of GD&T, machining processes, materials, and tolerancing.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface directly with customers and cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to evolving requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Rate Range: $75-95/hr
ITAR obligations are associated with this role, U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a) (1), (3) is required.
