Carpenter, Maintenance of Public Buildings
**Annual Salary Range: 37,535.00 - $45,037.67 Grade: 22**
The City of Alexandria is seeking professional individuals to begin a career in government MPB Department, located in the heart of Central Louisiana
to perform killed carpentry work at the journeyman level to construct, maintain and repair structures, facilities, articles of wood and other building materials for the City of Alexandria.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs general carpentry work in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, closures, hardware, suspended ceilings, windows, screens, scaffolds, wood fixtures, cabinets, trim, fences, furniture, forms, frames, shelves, and related items; determines the appropriate method to complete work.
Performs general repairs such as framing walls, and repairing desks and other furniture. Constructs cabinets and shelving units. Performs small demolition and renovations to rooms. Repairs city properties due to vandalism. Change ceiling tiles and repair ceiling grids.
Maintains and cleans shop area, ensuring the cleanliness and proper operation of the work area, equipment and trucks; conducts daily inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure proper and safe operations; reports repair needs and unsafe conditions to supervisor for resolution.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, with vocational or technical school training in carpentry. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in journeyman-level carpentry in an industrial, residential, or commercial setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. **Must possess a valid driver's license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment. Will be required to obtain a class D chauffeurs license within one month of employment.**
Work Hours: 40 hours per Week; may work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
