Hvac Technician
Responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting HVAC systems of various sizes, including interior-mounted gas furnaces, in an industrial environment. Ensures peak performance and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance on all HVAC equipment as required.
- Diagnose and resolve issues to maintain system efficiency.
- Weld, braze, and solder components with precision.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Work outdoors for extended periods in temperatures ranging from 15F to 100F, servicing units daily in all weather conditions.
- Operate powered vehicles, including but not limited to reach trucks, order pickers, aerial lifts, and articulating boom lifts.
- Report to the Maintenance Supervisor, Infrastructure Support Coordinator, and/or Infrastructure Support Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Properly operate all specialized equipment required for heating and air conditioning repair, servicing, and installation.
- Read and interpret drawings, sketches, and wiring diagrams for A/C and heating systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in heating units, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and exhaust fans, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Apply correct welding, soldering, and brazing techniques for HVAC system repairs.
- Utilize material handling equipment, including lifts, power trucks, hand trucks, and roof tuggers.
- Perform scheduled servicing of A/C units, heating systems, and dock heaters.
- Remove and replace complete heating units and A/C compressors as needed.
- Document services and repairs, maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including those established by the EPA for refrigerant handling.
- Following the established ordering process to maintain proper inventory of HVAC supplies and equipment.
- Repair or replace electric water heaters throughout the plant.
- Conduct plumbing repairs and modifications as required.
- Perform weekly and monthly testing and maintenance of the fire system.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures (e.g., 15F to 100F) and all-weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for extended periods.
