Weld Supervisor - 1st Shift - Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an experienced leader to join our team as a 1st Shift Weld Supervisor at our new Construction Equipment facility in Salina, KS.
This position works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime on Fridays, as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for welding and material handling.
Interpret specifications and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
Set up and program welding equipment.
Inspect work to maintain specified standards and quality.
Set up machines or make trial welds to make test runs and experimental products.
Prepare operational schedules and welding activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
Interpret company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Complete measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Train new employees and maintain an appropriate labor-management relationship with subordinates.
Perform activities of workers supervised.
Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience welding in a manufacturing environment
Ability to perform arc welding by hand
Management or supervisory experience preferred
Working knowledge of production processes and methods
Ability to apply common sense understanding to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Capability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Basic knowledge of Word Processing, Internet, Email, Spreadsheets, and Software Concepts
