Were seeking an Industrial Engineer or Architect with a sharp eye for process, performance, and public infrastructure to help us reimagine and deliver complex, high-impact Rail + Transit projects across the country.From cutting-edge rail maintenance facilities to dynamic multimodal transit hubs, you'll help create the backbone of modern transportation systemsintegrating efficiency, safety, sustainability, and design excellence at every step.
This position could be based in any major city in the US, with preference for New York City, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Fairfax VA, Chicago, Sacramento or Minneapolis. Responsibilities & Qualifications
What Youll Do:
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, planners, and clients to develop innovative layouts and operational workflows for rail and transit facilities.
Lead or support the planning and design of complex transit facilities such as:
Maintenance & storage yards
Rail operations centers
Multimodal terminals
Support buildings and administrative offices
Apply industrial engineering principles to optimize space utilization, equipment layout, material flows, staffing, and system performance.
Translate operational needs into efficient and buildable designs, considering human factors, safety, and lifecycle costs.
Assist with facility programming, design criteria documentation, schematic design, and detailed architectural/engineering plans.
Participate in client meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.
Support cost estimating, phasing plans, and construction documentation efforts.
Coordinate across disciplines to ensure design integration with track, systems, mechanical, electrical, and civil components.
What Were Looking For:
Degree in Industrial Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
7+ years of experience working on transportation, industrial, or public infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with facility design, lean principles, workflow optimization, or similar.
Experience working on Rail + Transit or large-scale infrastructure projects is a strong plus.
Strong communication skills and comfort working with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and deadlines.
Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or simulation/modeling software is preferred.
PE or RA license is a plus but not required.

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $80,000 - $130,000 annually for this position and local market.
