Design Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a talented Design Engineer to join our team focused on designing insulation sheets, damping materials, and heat shields primarily for the aerospace division, while also supporting the commercial vehicles division. The role involves transforming customer prints into documents for production, utilizing both 2D and 3D software (CATIA).

Responsibilities

  • Convert customer drawings into internal models for production using 2D and 3D software.
  • Spend approximately 90% of the time at a CAD station converting customer drawings to internal drawings.
  • Create cut files from 3D parts and transform them into 2D layouts for machine cutting.
  • Draft layouts and dimension drawings for new product models, production drawings, and customer installation documentation.
  • Manage product change requests and create 3D models and 2D drawings accordingly.
  • Upload design data into internal PDM systems with digital workflows.
  • Implement project timelines and maintain release schedules.
  • Support manufacturing and quality teams by reviewing manufacturing files and addressing production issues.
  • Be on-call to interface with customers and resolve design issues.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in design, preferably through an internship.
  • Proficiency in 3D and 2D design.
  • Experience with software such as CATIA, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Experience with Excel, foam and fiber materials.
  • Knowledge of water jet material cutting.
  • Proficiency in measurements and measuring tools.
Work Environment

The position is based in a production floor and office setting, collaborating with an engineering and machinist team. The facility employs around 200 people, with an additional 500 employees in a nearby facility. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
