Job Summary

Responsible for performing architectural design and construction activities on projects requiring the application of architectural knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. Candidate will also be responsible for bid documents and project supervision through completion of the assigned projects and tasks. Ability to program, design and execute facility construction projects, exhibits proficiency and knowledge of designs that enables the architect to serve as a resource for the company in that area; proficient in the use of MircoStation or AutoCAD software.

Workplace Architect Sr (Salary Grade 8)

What You'll Do:

  • Possesses the knowledge to make some technical decisions, with supervision, based on calculated risks with little management review; provides support to supervisor or manager to assist in making decisions affecting long range plans and goals based on analysis of input and outcomes.

  • With supervision identifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to problems that are typical to the organizational unit and requires knowledge of facility design and/or problem-solving techniques.

  • Assists in the preparation and presentation of the most designs, clearly, concisely, and persuasively, bringing in ancillary issues before senior management, professional organizations, etc.

  • Possesses team building skills that extend through AEP, and other companies, professional organizations, regulatory agencies, and academia.

  • Develops, recommends, and implements plans to address project issues within field of design expertise.

What We're Looking For:

Workplace Architect (Salary Grade 6)

Education: Bachelor's in Architecture in a program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

Experience: Requires a minimum of 4 years experience in Architecture.

Required License(s)/Certification(s): License in any U.S. state and NCARB certification; or ability to gain NCARB certification.

Workplace Architect Sr (Salary Grade 8)

Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering in a program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

Experience: Minimum 4 years' experience as an Architect.

Required License(s)/Certification(s): NCARB Certification in any U.S. state is required for this position.

These are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.

  • Incumbent is accountable for making sound recommendations and decisions that have an impact across organizational boundaries.

  • Depending upon assignment, position may entail some travel and exposure to situations which require the knowledge, understanding and adherence to applicable safety procedures.

  • Master's degree in Architecture preferred.

  • May require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks to meet requirements and schedules.

  • Demonstrates vision in identifying business opportunities for the organizational unit.

  • Proficient in the use of MicroStation or AutoCAD.
