Electrical Consultants, Inc., a leading power engineering consultant firm, has immediate openings for survey technicians in Woods Cross, UT. ECI specializes in engineering services to electric utilities (substation, protection, transmission) alternative energy systems, communication, oil/gas, mining and heavy industry.

The successful candidate will develop survey skills required for advancement in the surveying profession by completing both field and office project assignments under the direction of the Director of Survey or Survey Project Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying and holding survey instrumentation including GPS and prism rods, total station, ground scanner, GPR and other remote sensing equipment.
  • Following instructions from the survey crew chief to assist in collecting data and/or setting stakes and monuments for platmaking, construction, land and other surveys.
  • Marking points of measurement with elevation, structure number, or other identifying mark.
  • Placing stakes at designated points and driving them into ground with hammers including occasionally utilizing a sledgehammer.
  • Extensive travel away from the office may be required.

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma required. Successful candidates must have a good work ethic, computer skills, be self-motivated, and willing to work on a team of two to three individuals. Candidates must be available for regular overnight and out-of-town travel. Successful candidate must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. of survey equipment and supplies for long durations over rough terrain. Total stations and data collection experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of cadastral, boundary, and forensic surveying, good working knowledge of GPS, and CAD and/or MicroStation experience preferred. Successful applicant may be subject to client mandated drug and background checking. Travel and driving will be required. Successful applicant is subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements. Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status) now or in the future.
