JOB SUMMARY: District 158 is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic
REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings and Grounds
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution to solve problems.
- Provide clear information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates verbally and in writing.
- Perform physical activities that may include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and/or handling of heavy materials.
- Develop goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish duties.
- Keep up to date with technical knowledge and apply new knowledge.
- Comply with laws and regulations or standards.
- Inspect equipment and structures of materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems/defects.
- Service, repair, calibrate, regulate, fine-tune or test machines, devices, and equipment.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and grounds.
- Maintain parts inventory.
- Repair lockers.
- Replace lamps.
- General electric repairs (receptacles, switches, ballasts, motors, breakers, etc.).
- Maintain plumbing (toilets, sinks, water fountains, drains, etc.).
- Maintain HVAC equipment (RTU'S, VAV'S, AHU'S, BFD'S, Boilers, etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with commercial electric and service.
- Understanding of commercial electrical systems and materials used.
- Operating knowledge of basic hand tools and other specialized electrical tools.
- Operating knowledge of electrical equipment and electrical distribution.
- Operating knowledge of analog and digital meters, man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, etc.
- Ability to assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment appliances, apparatus, and fixtures.
- Ability to diagnose and fix malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools.
- Ability to advise supervisor on operation of equipment and discuss hazards.
- Ability to test electrical systems, continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, etc. and ensure compatibility and safety of systems.
- Ability to plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
- Ability to direct and train co-workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures as required.
- Understanding of HVAC units and materials used.
- Operating knowledge of low voltage systems.
- BAS system knowledge.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of standing and moving throughout the building.
- Able to lift heavy cartons and boxes, up to 60 lbs. that are delivered to school and move them to their assigned location.
Salary:
- Annual salary begins at approximately $50,000, with potential for adjustment based on qualifications and experience.
