Large utility is looking for a Mechanical Engineer in Hamilton Township, MI. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and at least 5 years of applied engineering experience, and involves overseeing natural gas compression projects by coordinating with cross-functional teams and schedule adherence through strong project management, communication, and mechanical systems expertise.This is a contract position estimated to last 12 months, possible extension, possible temp to perm. responsibilities:
  • Act as the Owner's representative, ensuring project objectives are met in safety, compliance, scope, quality, cost, and schedule.

  • Develop and enforce engineering, equipment, and construction specifications.

  • Apply standard engineering practices and judgment to moderately complex project tasks.

  • Evaluate and adapt engineering methods and criteria as necessary.

  • Provide field engineering support and technical guidance during construction.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: project managers, other engineers, environmental and system engineers, operations and maintenance personnel, outage and construction managers.
Skills:

  • Procurement and specification development.

  • Knowledge of safety standards, engineering documentation, and field operations.

  • Experience with RFP development, ASME B31.1, and API standards.

  • Project coordination and project management skills.

  • strong communication and stakeholder engagement across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience in gas compressor station operations or related mechanical/electrical systems.
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

  • 5+ years of applied mechanical engineering experience.
