Work consists of installation, alteration, addition and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the construction industries.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install feeders
Wire and conduit sizing
Switchgear and device installation and termination
Layout and preparation for installation
Underground layout and rough-in
Motors and controls - trouble shooting
Possess the skills of lower job titles (Apprentice)
Fully comprehends electrical theory and NFPA 70 National Electrical Code
Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to perform tasks effectively with little or no direct supervision
Must possess a good work ethic, have good attendance and excellent quality of work product
Perform all tasks and duties in a timely and professional manner
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location and time of year (heat, humidity, cold, rain and snow).
Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns)
Job requires employees to always have personal tools with them. Waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs.
Work from all types of ladders, step ladders up to 14 and all sizes of extension ladders. Be able to carry and relocate up to 12 step ladder by ones self.
Employees personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder. (Type-1, 250 lbs, Type-1A, 300 lbs and Type-1AA, 375 lbs)
Perform work at various heights (up to 100) from ladders, scaffolds, Ariel lifts, cat walks or other areas
Work in restricted areas (Switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics)
Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, face mask/shield and gloves - at all times), respirator when required.
Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers
Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required and night shift and weekends if needed
EDUCATIONAL/PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED required
Current valid drivers license
Attention to details
Strong code of ethics
Service oriented, good people skills
Completion of a formal apprenticeship and valid electrician's license or equivalent work experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
Must be able to lift up to 51 pounds at a time, with heavier requirements being met with assistance from lifting aids or co-workers
Constantly moving your feet
Climb ladders (all types)
Completing overhead work for full-day assignments
Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use
Possess good vision (normal or corrected) and must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring
Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete their assigned tasks
Perform housekeeping duties
Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits
