Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Electrician with experience in wiring panels for switchgear and switchboards to join our Plant Power & Control Systems team in Calera, Alabama . This role involves reading schematics, wiring panels, assembling control cabinets, and ensuring all electrical assemblies meet internal and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in an industrial or electrical manufacturing environment and a solid understanding of power distribution and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform all electrical wiring and assembly work related to switchgear, switchboards , and custom control panels.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
• Lay out, wire, and terminate devices within enclosures according to design specifications.
• Mount and connect components such as circuit breakers, relays, fuses, transformers, terminal blocks, and PLCs.
• Ensure workmanship adheres to NEC, UL 508A, and company standards.
• Use appropriate hand tools, crimping tools, and testing equipment to perform wiring and verification tasks.
• Perform point-to-point continuity checks and functional testing of completed panels.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving wiring issues during panel build or field installation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to all safety procedures and regulations.
• Support the installation and commissioning of equipment in the plant as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training in electrical systems preferred.
• 3+ years of experience wiring electrical panels, switchgear, or switchboards in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and panel wiring best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.
• Familiarity with power distribution systems, control circuits, and industrial automation.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with UL 508A panel building .
• Previous work on Plant Power & Control Systems .
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent standing, bending, and working in confined or elevated areas.
• Comfortable working around high-voltage components with appropriate PPE and safety procedures.
