Forklift Operator** **Pay: $19-21/Hour** **Location: Tacoma, WA** **Shift: 7AM-4:30PM** **Job Description** We are seeking a dedicated and flexible forklift operator to join our team. This role involves working in both the lumber yard and warehouse, depending on business needs. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and willing to adapt to different shifts as required. There is an opportunity for overtime, particularly during the busy summer season. **Responsibilities** + Read handwritten or system-generated sales orders to determine product requirements. + Note all special instructions for filling orders. + Operate chainsaw and other saw equipment safely. + Operate forklift safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations. + Perform daily inspections of forklifts as required by OSHA. + Band lumber products for storage or shipping. + Assist in moving inventory for storage within the yard area as directed. + Properly store inventory, ensuring it is level and covered as necessary. + Assist in inventory and cycle counts as directed. + Keep all lanes and areas clean and clear for traffic. + Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor and be flexible to changes. **Essential Skills** + At least one year of outdoor forklift experience. + Experience in lumber, pipeyard, or metal work due to handling long, non-palletized freight. + Good math skills. + Willingness to learn how to operate a chainsaw. + Proficiency with a tape measure. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with flatbed operations. + Previous experience in a lumberyard is preferred but not mandatory. + Candidates with a year of warehouse sit-down forklift experience will be considered. **Why Work Here?** Join a company that values growth and internal promotion. Appropriate gear is provided for inclement weather. The work environment may include exposure to fumes from industrial-sized forklifts, though it is managed to ensure safety. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
