Tesla's Automation Development team is at the forefront of building innovative automation equipment. This team is building the next generation of equipment that will allow our operations team to produce amazing vehicles at best-in-class quality and rate, in a safe and ergonomic environment.

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to focus on supporting the project management aspects of our equipment design and build lifecycle. In this role, you will function as the key liaison between the manufacturing engineering team responsible for specifying the equipment requirements, and the technical team responsible for the development and execution of the automation equipment. The Project Manager will work intimately with these teams to manage high visibility / value projects, and will apply project management skills to assure the timely and efficient execution of the projects.

  • Identify and document all project milestones and deliverables and keep project plans up to date, including resource allocations, tracking hours, monitoring schedules, milestones, deliverables, updating percentage completion
  • Manage timelines, resources, budgets, communications, quality, risks, whilst uncovering roadblocks, defining critical paths, identifying resource constraints, and any other issues that arise
  • Finalize project scope, define initial assumptions, and secure project resources
  • Lead and develop all activities around project kickoffs, scope definition, design reviews, acceptance testing, and weekly progress reports
  • Continuously monitor and measure project processes and activities to identify and communicate potential issues, risks, or problems in a timely fashion and provide corrective action options to drive to resolution
  • Lead cross-functional teams in design reviews, functional testing, and installation. Includes resource & dependency alignment, coordination of activities, and transparent communication of project status and risk
  • Conduct project evaluations, post-mortems, and drive process change to incorporate learning
  • Travel is expected to be up to 30%, primarily domestic with a potential for some international
  • Demonstrated, applied experience delivering complex programs and projects
  • Experience aligning with project stakeholders, engineering designers, and equipment builders
  • Experience with complex electromechanical equipment
  • 5-10 years of program/project management experience in a fast paced, highly fluid environment or other evidence of exceptional ability
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
