What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Responsible for technical leadership of a project as well as for supporting the Project Manager in managing project performance of the engineering team with respect to cost, schedule and Client satisfaction. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Development of early project scoping document, which would require sorting through a lot of initial data and documents that have been pulled as well as walking the site, accessing document from our document control software, Adept, and collaborating with others and the Facility.

  • Create or refine process design basis

  • Marking up P&IDs or PFDs or other key early engineering documents to communicate the scope

  • Create project justification write ups in support of creating a prioritization score for each project. Justification will focus on impact to the plant and the Organization with such area as, safety and environmental, reliability improvements, financial returns, etc.

  • Create a milestone schedule for the site team for the whole capital project portfolio to set targets for package development.

  • Create high level cost estimate including working with site Contractors in some cases to get better budgetary construction costs

  • Create milestone schedules for each individual project from next phase through commissioning

  • Coordinate MOCs and lead PHA (process hazard analysis) and collaborate with SMEs (subject matter expert) for a multidiscipline solution

  • Review safety action items and revalidation PHA action items and develop solutions to or responses to said action items in support of close out

  • Develop hot tap and stopple engineering packages

  • Develop scope of works with various redlined engineering documents and drawings for pump seal upgrade efforts

  • Engineer piping system changes in support of new instruments or a change to instrument technology

  • Support some Mechanical and Reliability site initiatives, for example, expanded heat exchanger reliability strategy tasks; valve reliability strategy and valve specification overhaul; and helping roll out a new bolting and torque spec

  • Create purchase packages for engineered equipment and be able to source quotes and develop commercial and technical bid tabs

  • Support site challenges and help troubleshoot issues associated with unit upsets or process trips, including properly understanding and applying site specifications and philosophies

  • Other Facility Engineering support as needed

Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Illinois. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargroves total compensation package for Teammates. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set and location.

Minimum Salary: $124,800 annually

Maximum Salary: $176,000 annually

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.

  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
