JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Construction and or Manager of Construction, perform duties as required to accomplish project completion such as but not limited to demolition, building trades as follows: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and other related duties. The Construction Mechanic I will be capable of working on individual projects without necessary help.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
Installs metal studding
Installs dry wall and finish with proper materials
Installs framing for ceiling.
Sands finish and paints walls and ceilings
Installs door frames and hangs doors
Runs copper lines and brazes (excluding med gas)
Runs drain lines for plumbing fixtures.
Runs control wiring as directed.
Installs trim of all types and of all materials
Installs light fixtures, head walls and trim.
Applies and installs all types of fireproofing materials
Knowledgeable of materials, methods and tools used in commercial construction.
Performs field changes to blueprints and document on blueprints.
Wears personal protective equipment and utilization and cleanliness of work areas.
Maintains confidentiality.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirement:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Current driver's license
One-year certificate from college or trade school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be proficient in two building trades and familiar with all applicable skills listed. Must show the ability to lead a project, and also have a special skill. Special skills or training would be as follows: mason, expert carpenter, welder, etc..
Preferred qualifications:
Four years experience in building trades.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Constantly works near moving mechanical parts.
Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat.
Frequently exposed to a risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibrations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequently required to move about throughout the department and facility.
Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
Occasionally required to operate a computer and other equipment.
Constantly required to stand.
Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.
Frequently required to lift and/or move 50 pounds.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move 100 pounds.
