Some of what you'll be doing:**
As a Journey Operator you will need to follow your field supervisor lead for day-to-day field activities assigned to Port Construction Services (PCS) crews and work teams, ensuring work and work activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner. In this role you will complete a wide variety of tasks involving equipment operations alone, or part of a crew, generally manual work in support of all the various business groups within the Port of Seattle as a member of PCS.
+ You will perform tasks as part of planned construction projects, supporting a maintenance task, assisting with exploratory tasks, perform rigging, supporting work of other members of a composite PCS crew or on an emergency basis in response to a specific event and periodically projects may require work during other shifts, weekends, and holidays.
+ You will operate various pieces of equipment to inspect, assess, repair, and replace stormwater, irrigation, sewer, drainage, hydrant, and similar systems. You will excavate, break & remove paving and concrete, prepare earth for foundations, stairs, operate a reach forklift, loader, backhoe, Skid steer, Roller, etc. in support of construction operations.
+ You will prepare reports as needed for regulatory requirements such as: Erosion and Sediment Control, BMPs, Safety Plans, Job Hazard analysis (JHA), Etc.
+ You will complete the required LMS computer training, rigging, working from heights, first aid, etc., including in-person training.
+ You will assist in reporting injuries, incidents and close calls on Origami as well as notify your managers.
+ You will be expected to comply with all Port of Seattle rules, policies, and construction safety regulations, in addition to the PCS work rules.
+ You will maintain a safe work area for the work crew and public, to include but not limited to cones, barricades, and warning devices that directs traffic at work sites.
+ You will perform all journey-level Operator work activities and work effectively from technical drawings. You will use a cell phone, email, and job tracking system to receive notifications of new work orders and/or requests and documenting your daily work activities.
**Who you are:**
+ **Experienced** You have five (5) years of recent experience in both operating heavy construction equipment, vehicles, and various tools, or you have completed an Operator apprenticeship program or equivalent. Your five (5) years of recent experience with heavy construction equipment and vehicles includes Backhoe, Excavator, Forklift, Reach-All, Skid Steer, and Loader.
+ **Educated** You possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
+ **Desired** We hope you have extensive experience using the equipment above. You are a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL). You have experience managing and documenting BMPs. You have completed HAZWOPPER training. You are OSHA 30 certified. You know how to use a smartphone for communication, email, texting, photos, Microsoft Teams, google maps, and for research. You are comfortable using a computer for email and for looking things up.
+ **Drivers License** You will need a valid Washington State Drivers License, required to travel locally to project sites.

+ **Work Schedule** - Your normal and primary work schedule will be MondayFriday, 6:00am2:30pm (40 hrs/wk; if available). You are required to work all assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with notice to support PCS business needs. You may be required to work during emergencies.
+ **Work Location & Environment** - You will typically start your shift at the PCS yard. Depending on project needs, you may be required to report directly to the Airport, Waterfront, or other project locations. You will generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, and may be exposed to areas of high noise,various hazardous materials, over water, on piers, shorelines, near roadways, around the public, and in remote areas, work at heights and/or in confined spaces. You must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.
+ **Overtime Eligible** You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
+ **Safety & Security Requirements** You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. The successful candidate must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check and a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to access the Port of Seattle Police Department equipment, office locations, systems and/or vehicles.
