Job Summary:

Performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic repair on plant equipment and facilities. Examines machines to find trouble; dismantles machines, replaces defective parts using standard repair or replacement parts; reassembles machines and makes necessary adjustments to insure efficient operations. Reads and interprets blue-prints and schematic diagrams. Work will involve installation and aligning equipment and work of several trades such as carpentry, electrical, welding, plumbing, etc. Instructs and teaches maintenance employees of a lower labor grade as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be capable of performing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical repair on plant equipment, facilities and building.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blue-prints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must have completed Maintenance Trainee Labor Grade 3 or equivalent in experience and/or formal technical training.
  • Must be able to perform all mechanical phases of major projects such as the installation of complicated equipment.
  • Must be capable of instructing and teaching maintenance employees of a lower grade.
  • Must be able to perform all functions with minimum supervision.
  • OBSERVE PROPER SAFETY PRACTICES AT ALL TIMES.
  • Must be available for overtime as needed to keep equipment operating.
  • Must have complete set of hand tools.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with two (2) to five (5) years of experience.

  • Other Skills and Abilities: Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as WordPerfect, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, established programs, etc.
