What You Will Contribute:Electrical Drafter Industrial Control Systems
Were seeking a skilled Electrical Drafter with a strong background in industrial control systems and CAD-based electrical design. In this role, youll support municipal water and wastewater projects by producing detailed electrical and mechanical drawings for control systems and instrumentation. Youll also create UL 508A-compliant control panel schematics and ensure seamless integration with field equipment.
While this position doesnt involve designing full system architectures, it requires a solid understanding of electrical systems, including dry-contact control loops, 4-20mA analog signals, and digital communication networks. Your ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into precise documentation is essential.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and revise electrical schematics (primarily ladder diagrams) and mechanical layouts for industrial control panels.
- Translate engineering specifications into accurate CAD drawings.
- Ensure compliance with UL 508A, NEC, and other relevant standards.
- Use and customize LISP macros to streamline drafting processes.
- Collaborate with engineers, panel builders, and project managers to align on design requirements.
- Maintain CAD libraries, templates, and standardized layers.
- Prepare supporting documentation including bills of materials (BOM), I/O lists, and as-built drawings.
- Incorporate redlines and field markups into final documentation.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
- Proficiency in BricsCAD or AutoCAD (experience with both is a plus).
- Familiarity with LISP macros; LISP programming experience is a bonus.
- Strong knowledge of electrical control systems, panel layout standards, and wiring practices.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, and electrical schematics.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of PLC and SCADA system architectures is preferred.
- Associates degree or technical diploma in Drafting , Electrical Engineering Technology , or a related field.
- Work is split between office settings and field sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Office noise levels are typically low to moderate; PPE may be required on job sites.
