Summary:
The Shop Supervisor coordinates activities of workers engaged in assembling parts or assemblies into units while promoting a positive work environment. Their knowledge, skill, attendance, work ethic, attitude, and ability to lead must be something others admire and respect. All Supervisors must lead by example. This document is to lay out the expectations of Shop Supervisor, and their respective responsibilities.

Qualifications:
The list of qualifications below is required to be considered for the role of Shop Supervisor.
Knowledge and experience of all machinery, tools, processes, and procedures in the area they are supervising.
Has an excellent attendance record, is consistently at work and on time. Punctual for all meetings and appointments. Does not extend break times, or abuse restroom breaks.
Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, blueprints, shop drawings, and written instructions that determine the method and sequence of assembling parts.
Demonstrate the ability to read a tape measure and be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, you must have the ability to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and physical ability required and will be monitored and reviewed by the Plant Manager during your probationary period, as well as annually. These duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The promotion of safety in the workplace through good housekeeping, safety training, and communication. Monitor the use of safety equipment used, methods of handling, compiling, and storing material, storage area housekeeping, and maintain a constant alert for hazardous conditions. Ensure your team members are working safely and are wearing necessary PPE.
Directly supervise employees in the shop. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, motivating, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
