Description JUMPSTART, ADVANCE, AND LOW YOUR CAREER WITH SMSI! We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in the construction sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining mechanical systems across a variety of construction projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant codes and standards. Responsibilities Design HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems for industrial construction projects. Provide engineering design and technical support for industrial ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and energy efficiency. Prepare detailed engineering calculations, plans, and specifications. Review contractor RFIs, submittals, and provide technical review of project documents. Collaborate with client architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions. Coordinate directly with CAD technicians and field members to provide reliable design support. Conduct site inspections and provide support throughout the construction phase. Ensure all mechanical designs and installations meet applicable building codes and regulations. Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities. This role supports sales in quoting, design development and customer interactions. Willingness to perform other duties as deemed necessary. Industries Supported: Food & Beverage Production and Processing Pharmaceutical production and packaging Cold Storage and Industrial Refrigeration Commercial and Industrial Construction Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred). Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred. Minimum of 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction industry. Specific experience with ammonia refrigeration systems in industrial or cold storage environments is highly desired. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design software. Solid understanding of building systems and construction processes. Strong knowledge of mechanical codes and standards. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
