Overview
The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate heavy equipment such as a dump truck, crew truck with trailer, excavator, loader, backhoe, and forklift. They will maintain assigned equipment in a safe operating condition.
Responsibilities
- Drive crew truck with trailers to and from job sites
- Safely operate various size excavators for wastewater/water repairs
- Drive various size dump trucks, hauling dirt to and from work sites
- Responsible for the physical condition of equipment by inspecting equipment and issuing work orders for repair and maintenance
- Generate daily/weekly/monthly safety inspection reports of equipment as needed
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on CCW equipment
- Perform diagnosis and repairs to CCW equipment at job sites
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, management, and vendors verbally and in writing
- Perform other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Non-Exempt - Full-Time
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Two (2) years of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
- A valid Class A driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class A driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
