Heavy Civil Construction Project Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Heavy Civil Construction Project Engineer to lead and manage complex infrastructure projects involving water, sewer, and roadway systems. This role requires a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. You will work closely with clients, estimators, engineers, and project coordinators to ensure seamless project execution from pre-construction through closeout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Manage all phases of heavy civil construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal agencies and private developers, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Team Coordination: Lead multidisciplinary teams including site supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Budget Management: Develop, monitor, and control project budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Scheduling: Create and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment with client expectations and internal milestones.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous quality control protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Safety Compliance: Champion a culture of safety by enforcing OSHA regulations and company safety policies on all job sites.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum1 year of experience as a Project Manager or Project Engineer in heavy civil construction.
  • Strong background in excavation, utility installation, and grading.
  • Proficient in project and operational management principles.
  • Familiarity with sewer systems, drilling, and underground infrastructure.
Preferred Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in HVSS (HeavyBid or similar) for estimating and cost tracking.
  • Experience using Bluebeam for plan review and markup.
  • Familiarity with Agtecor similar construction management tools.
Work Environment

This role involves managing multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Youll leverage advanced construction software and collaborate with diverse teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery. A strong emphasis is placed on communication, leadership, and continuous improvement.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $52.88/hr.
