Structural Welder/Fitter Job Description (WABO Certified)**
**Position Overview:**
Welder/Fitters are responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal components according to blueprints and specifications. This role requires proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to work with different metals.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Blueprint Interpretation:** Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine welding requirements.
- **Welding Operations:** Perform welding using techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core on materials like steel and stainless steel.
- **Fabrication:** Cut, fit, and assemble metal parts to create structures or components.
- **Inspection:** Examine welds for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- **Tool Maintenance:** Maintain and operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- **Safety Compliance:** Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
**Qualifications:**
- **Experience:** 1--2 years of welding experience, preferably in a fabrication or industrial setting.
- **Skills:** Proficiency in reading blueprints, using welding equipment, and performing various welding techniques.
- **Certifications:** WABO Certification for welding in Washington State is required.
- **Physical Requirements:** Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work in various positions.
- **Background Check:** Ability to pass a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) background check is required.
**Compensation:**
Hourly wages typically range from $25 to $35, depending on experience and skill level.
