Qualifications
Deisel Maintenance Technicians at Jefferson Lines perform 24/365 routine preventative maintenance and repair on our 80+ vehicle fleet of MCI and Van Hool 45-foot motorcoaches. They have strong mechanical aptitude and the desire to learn and advance in their maintenance career. Basic understanding and consistent compliance with company policies, safety, and DOT regulations with minimal supervision will be valuable while working on services such as:
- Electrical/Electronic Software Diagnostics for Cummins & Allison Engines
- Wheel End/Air Brake & Air System Repair & Maintenance
- Standard Repair & Replacement of Wearables, Gauges, Systems, Cosmetics, etc.
- Truck Mechanical Component Diagnostics & Repair
The below services are a plus, with paid training available:
- On-the-Road Vehicle Software & Systems Maintenance & Repair (GPS, Wi-Fi, etc.)
- Maintenance of HVAC Systems & Other Air Purification Components

Requirements
- Minimum of 5 Years' Experience in Auto Repair Field
- Diesel Experience Preferred but Not Necessary
- Valid Driver's License Required
- Pre Employment Drug Screen (Includes THC)
- Successfully complete background check
- Active Class B CDL License (with air brake and passenger endorsement or Willingness to Obtain)
- Basic computer skills
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to analyze situations and diagnose problems
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for extended periods
- Use hands and fingers to handle or operate tools and controls
- Reach with arms and hands
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally required to:
- Walk, climb, or balance
- Talk and hear during communication or diagnostic work

Qualifications
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent plus two-year degree in automotive or diesel mechanics and three years related experience or high school diploma (or equivalent) and five years related experience, plus AC certification for R132, R12 and R22 and Minnesota annual vehicle inspection certification. Must be ASE certified for Diesel Engines (T2), Drive Train (T3), Brakes (T4), Suspension and Steering (T5), Electrical/Electronic Systems (T6), HVAC systems (T7) and PMI (T8). Must be D.O.T. qualified and possess a Commercial Drivers License with a passenger endorsement and a medical card.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and written work orders.
- Ability to add and subtract in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to stand long periods of time and use hands to finger, handle, or grasp objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, talk or hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles (emissions).
- Subjected to dust, dirt and grease conditions.
- Works near moving mechanical parts.
- May occasionally work outdoors and be exposed to outdoor weather (heat and cold) conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
