Eaton's ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Welder - 2nd Shift. The core hours are Monday through Friday from 6;00 am - 2:30 pm. The rate for this position is $27.17 per hour. What you'll do:
Position Overview:
The Welder position is primarily focused on Welding for our cable tray department. The Welder will direct and assist Assembler II's with assembling ladders as well as welding the cable tray ladders and fittings. The Welder will handle materials and parts up to 50-pounds frequently throughout the shift.
In this function you will:
Perform simple repetitive assembly of parts and components
Use bolts, screws, hand tools, clips and other fastening devices
Operate welding unit, perform minor adjustments, and weld both aluminum and steel
Work under close supervision and may work from models, samples, or simple diagrams
Remove excess weld, slag, spatter, and rough spots from workpieces using grinders, brushes or scrapers.
Support all facility Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives including, but not limited to:
- Maintain 5-S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) throughout shop floor and office areas.
Track and sustain all visual management tools such as, but not limited to: layered audits, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) boards, and any additional LEAN tools that are deemed necessary to provide direction, goals and status to the shop floor.
Encourage, support, and actively participate in Kaizen improvements and events throughout the facility, department, and area of responsibility.
Train on the following:
- Introduction to material flow (set ups)
Understanding shop orders, part description, BOM, inspection sheets and ect.
Understanding engineering drawings to identify location and types of weld
Operate welding units and make necessary adjustments
Operate machinery and presses safely & proficiently
Accurately read, interpret, & produce parts from blueprints and shop drawings
Identify different gauges and types of raw material
Accurately read tape measure, scales, & calipers
Understand lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts used by Eaton.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Reno, NV will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
- Lift 50 pounds repeatedly
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with manufacturing fabrication.
- Demonstrated welding ability / knowledge
- Set-up and troubleshoot welding equipment.
- Ability to identify defects and measure workpiece to ensure conformance.
- Ability to weld aluminum and steel.
- Ability to read blueprints and shop orders.
Position Criteria:
- Able to stand on feet continuously during working shift.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required by company policy and procedure.
Physical Demands:
- Able to regularly lift 50 pounds without assistance. Occasionally lift more than 50 lbs. with assistance.
- Require fine manipulation of hands with repetitive motion.
- Exposure to high noise level (ear protection may be required in some areas).
- Exposure to high traffic areas with forklift activity.
- Work environment exposes to oils, lubricants, and solvents.
