About the Role
MWH is currently seeking an Mechanical Engineer to support the construction of a Water Treatment Plant located in the greater Portland, OR area. This project will be the first of its kind and will ultimately supply 135 million gallons of water per day to the Portland community. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a historic infrastructure and filtration project and support it through the entire project delivery life cycle.
Essential Functions
Oversee mechanical installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations.
Supervise and coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely and accurate installation of mechanical systems and equipment.
Resolve on-site mechanical issues efficiently and effectively.
Implement quality control measures for mechanical systems to ensure performance, reliability, and safety.
Ensure all mechanical work complies with local, state, and federal codes, and assist with securing necessary permits when required.
Conduct safety assessments and ensure mechanical work adheres to project safety protocols.
Oversee testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, verifying their functionality and performance prior to project handover.
Develop mechanical specifications and performance requirements for equipment and piping systems.
Conduct inspections and evaluations of mechanical components to ensure proper operation and installation.
Collaborate closely with other engineers, design professionals, and project teams to meet deadlines and budget requirements.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and propose practical, cost-effective solutions.
Stay current with industry advancements, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in construction or infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems including piping, HVAC, and process equipment.
