Summary or Brief Description of Work:
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission Mission Statement is to conserve North Carolina's wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation. The Commission is the regulatory agency responsible for the enforcement of N.C. fishing, hunting, trapping and boating laws. The NCWRC employs 700 full-time staff across the state, including wildlife and fisheries biologists and technicians, wildlife law enforcement officers, wildlife educators, communication specialists, customer service, information technology, and administrative professionals.
The primary purpose of the Engineering Services Division is to direct, plan and manage all engineering related projects for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Primary programs include in house design, permitting, construction, capital improvements programs for the agency as well as facilities management.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is accepting applications for an Engineer II for our Engineering Division.
This position is responsible for making technical decisions necessary to complete each of the following phases of design:
evaluation,
conceptual design,
preliminary site plans,
construction drawings,
project permitting,
construction administration,
engineer's estimates.
This position will provide oversight and monitoring of the construction progress related to the projects that they design.
Issue change orders and is the final approval authority when the project is complete.
This position will function as a key design team member of the design services section and will help the Commission meet its critical objective of providing public water access through its boating and fishing access facilities and ensuring game lands infrastructure is safe, functioning properly and easily accessible.
Provide detailed production of engineering designs, drawings and specifications for various civil projects including municipal, land development, water and wastewater, site drainage, road works, bridges, and infrastructure upgrades.
Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
Complete field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed.
Assist with Construction management and contract administration.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Engineer II duties include:

Permit application development and coordination with local governments and regulatory agencies.
Construction drawings and grading plans.
Material takeoffs & Specifications and Engineer's Estimate.
Engineering assessment, design and assistance with game lands projects.
Bidding of projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Management Preferences:
Experience in grading and civil site development.
Experience in permitting documentation process.
Special Requirement:
Employee must be a licensed Professional Engineer or an EIT working to obtain their PE (required within 12 months of employment by WRC).
Additional Requirements:
