POSITION SUMMARY

The CNC Machinist & Fabricator is responsible for meeting daily production standards, coordinating production schedule, material planning, programming and operating the CNC router table and secondary operations to finish product. This individual will assist with general maintenance and cleaning of equipment, on-the-job training of personnel, and troubleshooting quality and mechanical problems. They will also support production work around the shop including fabrication, crating, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering drawings and plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances
  • Identify parts to print for correct identification
  • Creates toolpaths for CNC machine using MASTERCAM software to translate cut profiles and drawings into a series of instructions that the machine will follow to cut a part.
  • Influences and optimizes toolpaths to achieve both machining efficiency and the quality of the finished product.
  • Load and unload parts from CNC machines
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards
  • Route and finish parts to print
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Check parts for physical defects.
  • Follows specific work instructions of assembly requirements.
  • General cleaning of work area, including work surfaces, equipment, and floors.
  • Understands and participates in continuous improvement activities
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads
  • Assist other team members with lifting and moving heavy parts on a continual basis throughout the day
  • General production labor/fabrication
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years CNC machine programming and operation experience required
  • 2+ years MASTERCAM NC programming preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to handle repetitive lifting while using proper lifting techniques on a daily basis
  • Takes ownership and pride in delivering a high-quality product
  • Flexible in their work schedule and able to work for 10 hours up to 4 -6 months
  • Must maintain a dependable and reliable work schedule
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be quality focused
  • General computer knowledge

The target hourly range is $26.00 - $32.00, depending upon qualifications and experience. Expanded pay ranges may be available for growth and advancement opportunities. In addition to hourly pay, the compensation package also includes eligibility for profit-sharing and monthly bonus opportunity.
