Position: Mechanical Foreman Sr/ Lead

Shift: 1st Shift (8 hours)

Compensation: $36-$40 depending on Years of Experience

REQUIRED- TRAVEL OUT OF TOWN, AND OVERNIGHTS. DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED.

Overview of role:

The Mechanical Foreman Senior/Lead oversees and coordinates mechanical maintenance activities within a facility or industrial site. This senior-level role involves leading a team of technicians and ensuring that all mechanical systems, including HVAC, machinery, plumbing, and other mechanical equipment, operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. The Senior/Lead Foreman will supervise daily operations, provide mentorship and training to technicians, manage maintenance schedules, and ensure the timely and accurate completion of tasks. This position requires leadership skills, deep technical expertise, and the ability to make decisions that improve system performance and team productivity.

  • Advanced Mechanical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, motors, pumps, compressors, and other complex machinery, with the ability to troubleshoot and lead repairs.
  • Project Management: Ability to plan, organize, and oversee large-scale maintenance or installation projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Advanced troubleshooting skills to efficiently identify, analyze, and resolve complex mechanical issues.
  • Preventive Maintenance & System Optimization: Knowledge of preventive maintenance strategies to extend equipment life and reduce operational disruptions.
  • Safety & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Communication & Documentation: Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with management, vendors, and internal teams, ensuring proper completed work documentation.

Key Deliverables

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues in HVAC systems, motors, pumps, conveyors, compressors, and other critical machinery.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of equipment and systems.
  • Develop, schedule, and manage maintenance plans to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure that all maintenance tasks, including repairs and installations, comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Oversee the preparation, execution, and completion of major maintenance projects, ensuring they are completed within scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, helping them develop their technical skills and safety practices.
  • Coordinate with other departments to align maintenance activities with operational needs and schedules.
  • Document maintenance activities, including work orders, parts used, and repairs completed, ensuring accurate records for future reference.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of tools, parts, and equipment needed for maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance tasks and safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety guidelines.
  • Lead safety meetings and inspections, ensuring all team members adhere to established safety procedures and best practices.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
  • Act as a point of contact for escalated maintenance issues and coordinate with management to resolve critical equipment failures.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 3 years in leadership or supervisory role.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, motors, compressors, pumps, and other industrial machinery.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams, with the ability to motivate and guide technicians to achieve high performance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of preventive maintenance strategies, repair techniques, and system optimization.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA, EPA) and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficiency with maintenance management software (CMMS) for scheduling, tracking work orders, and inventory management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, management, and external contractors.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification in industrial maintenance, HVAC, or mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC certification, Certified Maintenance Manager).
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other control systems.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing large maintenance or installation projects.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial, or facilities maintenance environment.
  • OSHA 30-Hour or other advanced safety certification.

Technology Requirements:

  • Proficiency with maintenance management software (CMMS) to track maintenance tasks, work orders, and equipment performance.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools (e.g., vibration analyzers, thermography cameras, multimeters) to troubleshoot mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and other industrial control systems is a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to travel to different work sites or facilities as required.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, making decisions and implementing improvements quickly and effectively.
