The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA ) is looking for an Experienced or Senior Mechanical System Design Engineer to join our Out-of-Production (OoP) Mechanical (Mech) Systems Design Engineering (DE) team based in Seal Beach, CA.
The OoP Mech Systems DE team is responsible for Continued Operational Safety Program (COSP), Safety Related Problem (SRP); As well as Support to BCA Production, BGS Modifications, BGS Boeing Converted Freighter program, BGS Spares, Service Engineering and Production Engineering changes for OoP aircraft.
This role is integral to our commitment to safety and compliance with FAA regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of design principles, aircraft performance, and regulatory requirements, ensuring that our aircraft meet the highest safety standards.
Primary responsibilities:
- Supports the development and documentation of Airplane Flight Controls Systems, Hydraulic Systems or Landing Gears / Wheels / Brakes and Tires systems, and the thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.
- Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups.
- Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Participates in design reviews and engages in supplier coordination. Utilizes project management tools to ensure project success and timeliness (e.g. scheduling, technical risk oversight, deliverables tracking).
- Defines verification methods such as component, system-level and airplane-level testing, and participate in that testing.
- Participates in activities related to certification of Boeing products with regulatory agencies.
- Works with the OoP Chief Program Engineer (CPE) office as the Responsible Engineer on COSP/SRP projects for OoP aircraft.
- Organizes design reviews with SMEs, formulates path forward with findings and prepares technical presentations for executive review boards of potential safety items.
- Supports BGS Spares (ELRs, SDTs and Interchangeabilities).
- Assists Service Engineering with BCS and other fleet issues.
- Works under minimal direction.
- Trains others .
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering or engineering technology.
- 2+ years experience using CATIA v5 and ENOVIA.
- 2+ years experience with Boeing commercial aircraft.
- Practical experience and knowledge Hydraulic Systems, Flight Controls, Actuation and/or Controls.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- Advanced degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Advanced degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Strong collaborative skills to deal with multiple team functions.
- Experience reviewing/approving Service Bulletins.
- Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.

Summary Pay Range:
- Experienced (Level 3): $102,000 - $138,000
- Senior (Level 4): $124,100 - $167,900
