Zachary Piper Solutions is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a growing team in support of a government agency. This position will be fully on-site, located in Annapolis Junction, MD.
Responsibilities/Overview:
Design and implement robust power distribution systems for vehicle-integrated equipment, including power distribution boxes, wiring harnesses, and cabling. Documenting design for some RF and Ethernet cables will also be required.
Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry safety standards and codes (e.g., SAE, ISO, IPC,MIL-STD).
Develop and maintain comprehensive electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other design documentation using PTC Creo.
Collaborate with technicians and manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective. Provide support during assembly and integration.
Update and revise drawings and documentation as needed based on feedback from technicians, manufacturing, and testing.
Work directly with customers to understand their requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and occasionally assist in developing new requirements.
Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to cross-functional teams.
Assist with fielding.
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering and vehicle integration technologies.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Secret Clearance or Higher
Proven experience in electrical system design, preferably in the automotive or related industries.
Strong understanding of power distribution system design principles, including cable sizing, connector selection, circuit protection, and grounding techniques.
Proficiency in using CAD software for electrical design, with PTC Creo experience preferred; experience with other CAD software will be considered.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., SAE, ISO, IPC, MIL-STD).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers.
Hands-on experience with prototyping and integration is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation and Benefits:
$85,000-$135,000 Depending on Experience
Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays.
