Position Summary

The Junior Scheduler supports project teams in the development, updating, and analysis of project schedules under close supervision. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals seeking to build a foundation in Critical Path Method (CPM) and Graphical Path Method (GPM) scheduling practices using tools like Primavera P6. The Junior Scheduler assists in generating reports, performing basic schedule analysis, and learning best practices in planning and controls within the engineering and construction industries.

Position Responsibilities

  • Planning & Schedule Development
  • Assist in developing and updating project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Build both summary and detailed-level schedules with guidance, ensuring accuracy in logic and duration.
  • Interpret contract requirements and incorporate scheduling deliverables accordingly.

Schedule Monitoring & ReportingCollect and input progress data to support schedule updates.Identify and report critical paths, variances, and schedule impacts.Support generation of schedule status reports, dashboards, and narratives.Format schedule data for internal and client-facing reports.

Schedule Analysis& ControlsSupport the preparation of baseline schedules, updates, and revisions.Assist in the preparation of what-if scenarios and delay/time impact analyses.Observe and report trends, risks, or inconsistencies in schedule performance.

Collaboration & LearningWork with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather activity status and project data.Participate in project meetings and site visits as needed.Learn and apply scheduling standards, PMA tools, and procedures.Develop an understanding of earned value management (EVM)concepts.

Additional DutiesPerform other tasks as assigned by senior schedulers, or project leadership.Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in scheduling or project controls(internships or co-ops acceptable).
  • Foundational knowledge of project lifecycles and scheduling principles(CPM,GPM).
  • Exposure to scheduling software such as Primavera P6(academic or practical).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to various audiences.
  • A non-equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered in lieu of stated minimum qualifications.

Additional Requirements

Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.

Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
