Position Summary:
As a leader in this role, you will oversee personnel management, communication, and project management
aspects for a construction organization. Your responsibilities will include hiring and developing skilled
employees, managing project planning and execution, maintaining clear communication with stakeholders,
ensuring project quality and client satisfaction and overseeing the project closeout process.
Project Management:
- Collect precise project information for accurate scopes of work, schedules, and estimates.
- Participate in project team to develop project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work, aligning with customer needs and field office resources.
- Attend internal pre-construction meetings to kick off the project planning phase and ensure seamless information transfer to the project manager and administrator.
- Oversee project planning, perform tasks, and monitor planning activities to support the scheduled start date.
- Verify bill of material/equipment and coordinate material orders for job start.
- Supervise project supervisors in developing project completion plans, monitor project execution, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion.
- Manage project closeout process, ensuring inspections, punch lists, and commissioning processes are completed.
- Review estimates to maintain alignment with project objectives and budget constraints.
Personnel Management:
- Recruit, hire, and retain skilled crew members to meet staffing goals and maintain adequate staffing levels.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career development.
- Evaluate employee performance, address performance issues, and file necessary documentation with HR.
- Assess project supervisors' strengths and weaknesses, develop training plans, and identify potential supervisors for development strategies.
- Foster effective teamwork, communication, and successful project outcomes among project supervisors and managers.
Communication Management:
- Maintain open communication with sales/project representatives, providing regular updates on project planning, execution, and closeout, addressing potential issues impacting client satisfaction.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings to facilitate project planning to execution transition, initiate task lists for project setup, and ensure clear communication among stakeholders.
- Collaborate with building owners, subcontractors, project supervisors, and project managers to promptly identify and resolve project issues.
Non-Essential Job Functions/Additional Responsibilities
- Suggest and submit process improvement ideas.
- Collaborate with team members who may not be directly associated with the territory but who may have influence to generate positive outcomes at the D. C. Taylor Co.
Knowledge and Skills Requirement
- Minimum of 4 years as a commercial roofing project supervisor (foreman) or 1 year as a project manager.
- Proficient in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and adapting to change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Computer literate
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including effectively supervising personnel and managing outcomes
