Senior Project Engineer

Summary of the Position

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for designing and drafting food processing and packaging equipment, plant layouts, and component parts. This role also leads to capital projects by establishing budgets and timelines and managing the installation of systems across all company facilities.

Functions of the Position:

  • Designs, redesigns, or modifies equipment and systems to resolve issues and improve performance and reliability.
  • Prepares final layouts for equipment and systems based on simple sketches or vendor-supplied drawings for all company locations.
  • Manages new equipment purchases, working closely with vendors to ensure equipment meets manufacturing requirements. Conducts Factory Acceptance Tests and other related activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, managers, and facility staff to address design needs and project requirements.
  • Oversee internal projects, supporting Maintenance and Fabrication Shop teams on new installations, retrofits, and upgrades.
  • Evaluates production equipment and systems to identify and implement optimization opportunities.
  • Monitors project costs and prepares progress summaries for the executive team.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Ten or more years' experience in engineering and project management.
  • Knowledge in the food/nut industry highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • AutoCAD certification.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  • Ability to supervise projects and personnel.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.
  • Ability to be on foot four hours a day and walk large facilities.
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
