KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Set up and operate CNC routers or milling machines to cut and engrave materials including aluminum, acrylic, PVC, wood, and composite panels. Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and job orders to determine machining instructions. Load raw materials, align fixtures, and secure workpieces for accurate cutting operations. Monitor machine operation to detect and correct malfunctions, tooling wear, or quality issues. Inspect finished parts using calipers, gauges, and visual checks to ensure dimensional and aesthetic accuracy. Perform routine machine maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and replacing dull bits or cutting tools. Coordinate with the design and engineering teams for pre-production reviews and file adjustments. Maintain accurate production records and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: -4+ years of experience operating CNC machinery in a signage, fabrication, or manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with CNC routers, lasers, or plasma cutters (e.g., MultiCam, AXYZ, ShopSabre, or similar). Familiarity with CNC programming software (VCarve, EnRoute, ArtCAM, Fusion 360, or similar). Understanding of material behaviors and proper feeds/speeds for various substrates. Proven experience reading technical drawings and production layouts. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Mechanical Aptitude - Strong understanding of CNC machinery, tools, and basic mechanical principles. Precision & Quality Control - High attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, clean, and consistent results. Technical Interpretation - Ability to read CAD drawings, G-code, and production documentation confidently. Problem Solving - Skilled at identifying errors in setup or machining and troubleshooting effectively. Safety Awareness - Thorough understanding of machine shop safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE). Collaboration - Works effectively with designers, engineers, and fellow operators to meet production goals. Time Management - Able to manage workloads efficiently and adapt to production timelines and changes. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to sit and use hands to operate the telephone, type and operate computer and mouse. Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift). Frequent walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and use of hands to handle tools and materials. Ability to lift and move materials or equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted. Manual dexterity to operate machinery, hand tools, and computer controls with precision. Good visual acuity for reading blueprints, machine displays, and inspecting parts (with or without corrective lenses). Tolerance to shop environment including exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures (with proper PPE). Ability to wear safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection as required. Occasional use of ladders or step stools during material handling or machine setup.
