Summary:
The Building & Grounds Supervisor within the Avon Grove School District is responsible for oversight and management of community based school district facilities, maintenance, and support services, encompassing up to 1 million sq. ft of office, school buildings, and ancillary buildings, including procurement of supplies, materials, equipment and vehicles, managemant and coordination construction activities, management and implementation of the capital budget including supervision of facilities and support, supervisory, and office staff as well as direct supervision of technical trades staff. This position is responsible for departmental budget development and management. Acts as primary resource to district administrators and staff in all matters relating to facilities and operational support services. Is responsible for the development and managaement/implementation of the energy management plan. Provides oversight to all contracted facilities and grounds related services within the district. Responsible for oversight and coordination of $127,000,000 capital project plan including construction of a new high school, athletic field complex, and renovation of an existing middle school.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Development and oversee capital projects: Create and manage the district's capital improvements plan and budget for facilities, equipment and building systems
Manage facility maintenance and complliance: Coordinate and supervise all repairs, alterations, and inspections, ensuring facilities meet safety, environmmental, and regulatory standards
Liaise with contractors and code officials: Serve as the district's representative for construction, equipment specifications, and regulatory matters, collaborating with consultants, inspectors, and local municpalities
Supervise and evaluate staff: Schedule and assign work, hire and discipline personnel, and conduct performance evaluations for both supervisory and non-supervisory staff
Oversee operational and logistics: Manage custodial services, procurement, and distribution of supplies; respond to emergency plans; and coordinate snow and ice removal to maintain safe facilities
Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance: Implement hazardous communication policiies, manage an internal pest management program, and maintain compliance with life safety and environmental regulations
Estimate costs and maintain records: Prepare cost estimates for projects, maintain construction files (e.g. blueprints, bids, contracts) and ensure accurate documentation of facility-related activities
Support district-wide facility needs: Assist administrators with space planning, relocation of classrooms and equipment, and resolve issues related to facility operations and maintenance
All other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
General knowledge and understanding of EPA and the DEP of Pennsylvania environmental laws required
Minimum of 5 years administrative and supervisory experiences in Facilities and Asset or public school property management required
Ability to understand and comply with written and/oral instructions or directives
General knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other related maintenance operations practices
Knowledge and understanding of trades, codes, regulations
Ability to read and work from basic plans, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
Ability to operate and use tools common to maintenance trades
Ability to use hand tols, power tools, and testing equipment
Ability to use computer technology efficiently
Ability to operate snow and ice removal equipment
Experience with AHERA (asbestos) inspections and removal
Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures
Professional or Other Required Clearances
Valid Driver's License required
Current police, child abuse, FBI fingerprint clearances within 1 year required
Schedule:
260 day position, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
Anticipated Salary Range:
Project, Level 16: $87,037 - $108,796/yr.
