Refrigeration Technician

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Refrigeration Technician to join our maintenance team on the 1st shift . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in refrigeration, HVAC systems, and related equipment, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment . The technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a variety of equipment, including refrigeration units, boilers, chillers (ammonia and freon-based), air compressors, and air handling systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair:

    • Refrigeration units (including freon and ammonia systems)

    • Water heaters and boilers

    • Chillers

    • Air compressors

    • Fan coil units and air handling units

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment throughout the facility.

  • Conduct routine tasks such as:

    • Filter changes

    • Lubrication of equipment

    • Bearing change-outs

    • Drive belt replacements

  • Install and fabricate minor sheet metal work and ducting.

  • Modify refrigeration systems and associated control software.

  • Perform HAZMAT and general safety inspections in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs using CMMS or maintenance logs.

  • Support other maintenance tasks as needed in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Required Qualifications:
  • HVAC Certification

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification

  • EPA Type II Certification

  • EPA Certification (Universal preferred)

  • Master’s HVAC License (preferred or state-required equivalent)

  • Minimum 3–5 years of refrigeration experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Hands-on experience with boilers and chillers (ammonia and/or freon-based)

  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, HVAC components, and preventive maintenance procedures

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics

  • Working knowledge of safety standards and HAZMAT procedures

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions (hot/cold)

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and stoop for extended periods

Preferred Attributes:
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Familiarity with CMMS systems for tracking work orders and preventive maintenance
