Our Welder is primarily responsible for performing various welding operations, using mig, tig, stick and gas. You will perform various machining operations using line boring equipment, lathe and mill. What You Will Do in This Role:
- Plan and produce metal forms or objects, or reconstruct damaged articles of various metals and alloys utilizing hand tools, fixtures, jigs, etc.
- Measure work carefully by using precision tools such as a micrometer
- Read calipers, micrometer and height gauge as well as air-arc, cutting torch and plasma torch
- Cut metal using a torch and following diagrams or sketches as well as fusing different metals and withstand great strength demand while avoiding distortion
- Regulate equipment as necessary for the work performed
- Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.
- Ability to fabricate from prints
- Knowledge of basic math including fractions and decimals, convert metric to SAE
- General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, diagnostic software, cranes and rigging equipment
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Basic mechanical knowledge including electrical and hydraulics
- Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications
- Operation of various types of equipment and implements, various shop hand and electric tools, fixtures, jigs, air-arc, cutting torch, and plasma torch, lifting devices (cranes and slings)
- Stable work history
- Two to four years experience welding on heavy gauge carbon steel in the heavy equipment industry
