We have a great opportunity for you to join our team as an on-call, journey-level tradesperson in the maintenance, and repair within the Maintenance and Operations Division (MOD) at our Yakima Valley School campus.

As a member of the our Maintenance and Operations t eam, you will assist the maintenance shop in performing HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and repairs.

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for this on-call opportunity to join our team.

Who should apply?
  • Those with a high school diploma/GED
  • A valid driver's license
  • At least Four years of experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work; or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade

Some of what you'll do:
  • Preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as laundry and kitchen equipment; and air­ conditioning equipment
  • Maintenance, operation, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems of buildings and utility distribution
  • Monitor safety, fire protection, and environmental control equipment to ensure the building systems and equipment are operating in a satisfactory condition
  • Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance
  • Take preventative and emergency action to control malfunctions
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment
  • Work from plans, sketches, or drawings
  • Estimate materials for completion of the job

What we are looking for:
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions described in this announcement successfully
  • Must be able to communicate with professional conduct and comprehend, through oral and written forms of communication, with management, peers, clients, and the public
  • Dress appropriately for the work to be performed including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of mechanical trades, safety precautions, record keeping, and basic computer skills
