Construction Project Engineer
Job Description

This Senior Electrical Engineer position entails an on-site role at a datacenter campus, supporting ongoing construction activities. The role requires daily presence to review progress and ensure quality design of multiple concurrent datacenter builds. Responsibilities include monitoring compliance with construction documents from the initial stages through commissioning, and working closely with engineering procurement, controls, and construction teams. The position involves providing project management technical direction, decision-making, and leadership throughout the construction lifecycle up to and including project turnover. Additionally, the role supports multi-discipline coordination, issue identification and resolution, continuous improvement efforts, and ongoing documentation of project learnings for future designs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site electrical engineering and project management representative throughout the construction of a multi-year datacenter campus development.
  • Perform regular site walks and inspections to observe progress and review construction versus design intent, ensuring standards and quality are met.
  • Facilitate a close working relationship with site personnel, attending construction-based quality assurance meetings, schedule and milestone review sessions, and monitoring project management risks.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, design guides, standards, sequences of operation, and commissioning documents for technical compliance.
  • Support and oversee submittal review, request for invoice responses, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure timely responses and seamless project execution.
Essential Skills
  • 8 years of electrical engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years specific to datacenter electrical engineering.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, project specifications, and equipment submittals against construction activities.
  • Experience with the design and operation of electrical systems, power distribution systems, backup power systems, and electrical power monitoring systems.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
  • Excellent leadership competencies and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Engineering degree required.
  • Experience in electrical cabling.
  • Integrity, methodical, detail-oriented, with an excellent work ethic.
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and collaborative, requiring interaction with both technical and non-technical groups. The position involves regular site visits and inspections, necessitating a thorough understanding of commercial and industrial architecture and engineering, particularly in datacenter construction techniques. Dress code is professional, aligning with the high standards expected in the engineering field.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
