Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Review contracts to verify scope of work and pricing accuracy.

  • Negotiate and draft contracts for sub-contractors.

  • Procure and track materials to ensure timely delivery and budget compliance.

  • Oversee the submittal process, ensuring all required documentation is completed and approved.

  • Develop and coordinate project pre-planning activities, including the preparation of project manuals, conducting pre-construction meetings, creating foreman's manuals, managing buy-out of equipment and materials, and obtaining necessary permits.

  • Maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion, i.e. manpower, material delivery, sub-contractors.

  • Oversee project billing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Interpret construction contracts, subcontracts, drawings, and specifications to ensure project compliance.

  • Negotiate and manage change orders to control project scope and costs.

  • Review and schedule warranties to ensure proper coverage and timely execution.

  • Coordinate project close-out activities, including documentation and final inspections.

  • Communicate effectively with the general project manager or project owner/owner's representative, as applicable.

  • Collaborate with the project engineer to facilitate project execution.

  • Prioritize employee and jobsite safety.

  • Update monthly man-hours report.

  • Monitor and manage job site equipment rentals to optimize usage and cost.

  • Provide exceptional customer service and foster ongoing client relationships.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, and employees to support project success.

Estimator:

  • Apply estimating skills as directed and scheduled by management, collaborating with the design/build team to develop accurate budgets based on written narratives, utilizing current estimating software.

  • Engage vendors and subcontractors for participation in estimated projects, in accordance with company policies and management guidance.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, and employees to support project success.

  • Coordinate with Operations and Project Managers to provide estimate turnover information necessary for project execution.

  • Monitor and analyze bid win/loss rates to inform future estimating strategies.

  • Support project managers with pricing change orders and other project change directives.

  • Provide data that meets accounting requirements to allow analysis of job performance goals.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Field experience as a foreman or superintendent in civil construction or similar field, with readiness to take on project management and estimating responsibilities.

  • Proven experience as a project manager or estimator within civil construction or a similar field.

  • Strong understanding of civil construction processes gained through hands-on experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead field teams.

  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and civil construction best practices.

  • Administrative skills to identify business challenges and develop effective responses, actions, and strategies to support company success.

  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new software, including accounting and project management programs.

  • Ethical and professional interaction with customers and employees.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for building relationships and negotiating.

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and meet deadlines while working independently or as part of a team.
